16 Miles and Still Going Strong

If you’re participating in the Chicago Marathon Training Program, chances are you are up to about 16 miles. I was rather suprised to find that the 16 miler that we did yesterday was actually a lot easier than my 8-miler of last week. It odd, my the only real hard miles is the first 4-5 and maybe the last mile. I’m hoping my good luck holds out and I stay injury free for the remaining part of the season. It seems like its always the 16, 18 and 20 mile training runs that claim the most victoms.

Of course, its always nice to have Jenny Hadfield running the 16 miles next to you like I did this week. I have to give another poke to CES (Chicago Endurance Sports) for their excellent training program. It really is the best. The coaches are great and the network of friends you develop is awesome.

Anyways, good luck to everyone training. Stay Healthy!

  • Help fight cancer while getting in some exercise! One in six men are at risk for being diagnosed with prostate cancer (according to Us TOO International). This is a disease that affects the lives of those diagnosed as well as friends and family. You can help in the fight against cancer. Held September 13 from 8:30-2 in Lincoln Park, all proceeds from the SEA Blue Prostate Cancer Walk will go toward Support, Education and Advocacy — fighting the fight. Any support you can offer would be greatly appreciated… whether it be by blogging about it, sharing the message with your friends or participating, you can help make a difference in the lives of the hundreds of thousands of men diagnosed each year. • I’d actually like to echo LeeAnn’s comment about getting exercise while helping to fight cancer. The president of gracie’s gear (a women’s fitness clothing line) will be running the Chicago Marathon with Team Bear to help raise money for the Bear Necessities Pediatric Foundation. There are a lot of amazing details to this story that could make for a great blog post and I’d love the chance to share them with you as I think it is fantastic motivation for anyone training to run 26.2 miles.

    Good luck in the marathon!
(P.s. I am extremely jealous that you get to run with Jenny Hadfield, that’s awesome!)
